World of Warcraft's Probable Graphics UpdatePosted 5/16/2008 at 9:12 AM By GamingShogun

In an interview with Eurogamer, World of Warcraft producer J. Allen Brack said that a full graphics overhaul is in the works and, in my opinion, is long overdue. The thing about World of Warcraft that has allowed it to live this long (graphically speaking) is its art direction. The meticulous differences between every single tree in a forest, for example.
'That's actually something we talk about every expansion,' he said. 'I'm positive we'll talk about it next expansion.'
Blizzard's time of graphical complacency is coming to a close, however. It started with the beauty of the Lord of the Rings Online, released last year. While the game does not have anywhere near WoW's numbers, its graphics never fail to evoke amazement. Now with the near release of Age of Conan, the recent upgrade of EVE Online's graphics, and the eventual release of Warhammer Online, World of Warcraft finds itself the 'ugly' girl at the ball. The millions of players deserve better. They deserve graphics to match the game's rich story and Blizzard's inherent sardonic wit, which was injected into the game as much as possible.
