Everyone was waiting with baited breath for an announcement of a new Halo title at the Microsoft Press Conference. Waited...waited...and waited some more. But nothing happened! We got the FFXIII announcement and then it was 'game over man, game over!'
As it turns out, the scuttlebutt round the expo we picked up was that Bungie did indeed have a Halo announcement that was pulled due to conflicts with the FFXIII reveal. Obviously, we would have reported this to you had the convention center's wireless network not been flooded with traffic, preventing us from posting anything.
However, while retired to our hotel room after the Rock Band Bash I found the following information scattered across the internets: According to an interview with MTV Multiplayer, Don Mattrick, head of Xbox business, revealed that Bungie was working on a Halo title that is not Halo Wars and is to be announced 'soon'. Also, according to GameRush, a Bungie insider says they put 'metric man hours' into readying their E3 announcement only to have it pulled at the last minute.
