Today at the Gamefest expo in Seattle, Microsoft had two big announcements to bring forth. First, that Games for Windows LIVE will be free for everyone. YAY!!!

Secondly, and probably of more importance, is that they showed off DirectX 11 finally. It will support full backwards compatibility with Dx 10 and 10.1 hardware, feature a new shader and also setup the basis for developers to use it as a parallel processing unit instead of just a GPU, better support for multi-core CPUs, and a whole lot more. More to come!
