E3 Coverage

During E3, MadCatz told us they had acquired the official license to make peripherals for Rock Band 2. What this means is that as opposed to third-party knock-offs that most of us are used to, they will be bringing high-end third-party stuff to us. One of the more interesting designs we saw was the integrated microphone/gamepad peripheral. How many times have we fumbled with the Xbox 360 controller while singing during Rock Band. Handling two loose controllers is just inefficient. This will remedy the situation by putting the buttons right there on the mic!

The device comes with a 9.8 foot chord that should give you room to move should you feel the need to get down and funky, while also providing 'pop-protection' with its built-in pop filter and wind screen. If you are worried about hitting a button in mid-song, simply slide the lock slider to the 'locked' position and it will not register any control presses. The premium microphone will retail for $59.99 dollars.

We were told by the MadCatz spokesperson to expect these units sometime in September or October.
