What the hell was that?
Our official theory is that this title will be an official expansion to Halo 3 - both with multiplayer maps as well as a new single-player campaign. Due to the prevalence of the 'Prepare to Drop' phrase coupled with the fact that those are UNSC ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) drop pods, we believe it will focus on a team of ODST 's as the fight in the New Mombasa battle. In the teaser, you see a signpost that says to 'Evacuat New Mombasa'. That is obviously where this trailer is taking place. Also, there is an explosion at the end of the video which could very well be the Covenant Prophet jumping out close to the city as he did in Halo 3.

Questions: Is this going to use the existing Halo 3 FPS interface or are they planning to take it into the third-person, Gears of War-style for a squad-based shooter? Will the ODST troops have shields (in the books they did not)?

Release date: Based on the date '1/06/09' seen when the Maintenance AI reboots, we are guessing that to be the release date for the expansion.
