Looks like another gaming tournament series has been canceled. This one was highly televised no less. DIRECTV's Championship Gaming Series has been shutdown due to lack of present profits.
In a press release, the CGS states that the whole tournament was 'an idea whose time came too early' and that they will miss the crew which made it all possible. The CGS had a huge number of tournaments all around the world and the backing of being distributed by DIRECTV. It is just another nail in the North American coffin of pro-gaming unfortunately.
