The Chinese government has declared that virtual items cannot be swapped for physical goods, payment, or service.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Commerce, virtual currency can still be traded for virtual goods and services. According to a survey done by a University of Manchester professor, 80% to 85% of all gold farming is done in China.
